I had such a busy day yesterday, and my 4 year old was home, I decided not to post anything. I really did not have time.

Yesterday I asked which is fake and which is real. I asked that questions because you need to know.

Companies have gotten bold they advertise as factory outlet prices, discounted, sold at wholesale, but all are selling fake items. Louis Vuitton does not mark bags down. They do not sell wholesale.

At Swap Couture we have several measures in place to insure authenticity.

All of our bags are authentic. Some are new and have not been carried. Provide us with a bag that you wont miss that is in good condition. We will elevate you with a nicer bag. You will swap up or bag up. I want you to walk away feeling better and sometimes a bag will do it.

I was busy all weekend answering questions, which is a good busy. I will explain here on my blog why you should become a member of Swap Couture.

I started Swap Couture because of my love for designer handbags. I have so many and I have given so many away, so I thought there has to be something more creative to do with these great bags.

The first thing you do is join. Joining Swap Couture allows you to swap as often as you like for 1 year. By swap I do not mean borrow or rent. I mean you give Swap Couture a bag and you get a bag in return. One month later, you have a bag from Swap and maybe you are tired of it. You can turn it back in for something else, maybe your bag or maybe not, because someone else may have yours. Also, you can send in as many bags as you like, you will get the same amount of bags back. For instance a member sent in 2 bags, a Brahmin bag and a LV Boulogne bag. She swapped them for a Michael Kors and Gucci respectively. She says she loves them and does not want to swap again, not those bags anyway, but she could if she wanted to. Another member gave me a small D&B and received a MK tote. A few months later, she gave me back the MK tote for my Bally bag. She also gave me a MK bag for a Brahmin with a matching wallet. She likes a variety. Both members paid $99.99

The different categories were established so that we wont end up with a lot of lower end bags. You cannot send in a $200 bag and get an $800. Even if you sent in 4 $200 bags, we still would not be balanced. The good news is that you can and should swap up! You can send in a $200 bag and receive a $499 bag! So you see you can elevate your swap, or bag up!

We also established different membership plan.. Some bags are very low end, maybe for your child's first bag. The lowest membership is the Basic Membership for $49.99. The category for the Basic membership is category Simple and Sweet. This category allows you to swap bags less than $200. You can dig deep in your closet, pull out your first coach and swap it for one of these bags, maybe for a gift for a child or a tween! The membership that is $99.99 is the Premium membership. It consists of the Chic category, which allows you to swap bags that are between $200-$499. So if you have an old Coach or Dooney and Bourke that you may want to swap for a MK or another of the same kind just newer, you want this membership. You pay $99.99 and swap away. The next category is the Classic category. This category belongs to the Elite Membership which is $199.99. You can swap for bags that retail for $500-$999, which means you can swap a nicer Coach or MK that you paid maybe $500 for for a Gucci or LV that retails for $900! You are elevating your swap, bagging up or swapping up! The amazing thing is that you can swap as often as you like, which is why there is an annual fee. Lastly, is the Celebrity category, which is an Exclusive membership for $399.99. These bags are $1000 and over. You can swap a bag for $1000 for a bag for $2000! Imagine swapping your old Louis Vuitton for another Louis Vuitton that is $1000 more! You have elevated your bag collection. Even if its an even swap as far as price goes, you can swap multiple bags. Being a member allows that.

Oh yes, another important feature, some of the bags are brand new! Where can you get a brand new $1000 bag for $399.99? In a sense, we are giving you $600 for your used bag and no one does that! I was told that at one time a major dept store gave customers $50 on their bags. We are doing much better than that. Even if the bag you get from us is not brand new, it is in great condition. I will continue to say that you can swap several bags, but you pay a once a year membership fee. I just thought of another example. If you have a Premium membership and you want to upgrade and swap as an Elite member, you simple pay an additional $100 and that allows you to swap in a higher category.

This is the best place for me to really talk about who I am and Swap Couture.

I am a wife, mother, believer in Christ, and a business woman. My business is Swap Couture and though it comes after all of who I am, it is very very important to me. I founded Swap Couture because of my love for designer handbags. It is as simple as that, but Swap Couture has allowed me to connect with women and have great conversations daily. The business part of that, however is that women who love designer handbags like I do, can partner with me and elevate their bags by swapping bags with women all around the country! I love that!

I have found that many women don't want to let go of their bags, or they feel they will get something less than what they have. Swap Couture will elevate you! You will be bagging up! Now if you only have one bag, then you are probably wont let it go. If you are a bag lover like me, however, you have tons that you do not even carry, so you are more willing to let it go. You don't carry it anyway, so why not swap it for one that you want to carry.

I have so much to discuss this morning!

First, Swap Couture now has 4 memberships, with the lowest at $49.99! I made these changes based on feedback from you. The Basic Membership of $49.99 is for bags less than $200. This may be a starter bag or a daughter's starter bag. The other memberships are as follows: Premium Membership $99.99 (bags $200-$499), Elite Membership (bags $500-$999), Exclusive Membership (bags $1000 and over). I am so excited about the new memberships.

Second, I have been featuring members to show you how they have elevated their styles and have "Bagged Up" so to speak. You do not lose out at Swap Couture, but gain a better bag or "Bag Up." I posted a picture of Nancy Medina on Facebook yesterday with her amazing Brahmin bag with matching wallet. She gave Swap Couture a cream Michael Kors. I posted a pic of her here. Check her out. Last, I saw a piece on GMA this morning. Tory Johnson featured bags for under $20, but before you get excited, they were not designer bags. They were bags made for convenience more less. The most expensive was $60 regularly priced. Before you buy your next designer bag, look at the bags on this website. It will save you money and you will have a great bag!

In regards to fake bags, there are several companies who advertise and sell fake bags. I think this is horrible and bold, but all the same, true. Be careful.

I have been getting lots of questions regarding real vs replica. I have found that the whole replica bag industry is huge. It seems that with every popular designer bag, there is a fake counterpart. There are even people out there who have fake bag parties, and yes, people buy those fake bags. The question is, how do you tell.

It seems that you can look up all sorts of factors that will let you know, but the best way is to become extremely familiar with the real. For instance, Louis Vuitton has several different styles and what may be true for one is not true for the other. Also, depending on the year the bag was made, it may have been made a certain way for that particular year. The point is, real bags change so much, due to counterfeiting, that chances are, you may have a real bag that has a different lining from another real bag or it may have been made someplace else than its real counterpart. The best way, however is to look at the quality of the bag.

Shiny gold, loud smelling fake leather, or poor stitching are all signs of a replica. If you look at a bag and every stitch is in place including the stitching around the interior tag, as opposed to glue on the interior tag, its real. With replicas, there is no attention to detail. There may be no stitching within hidden compartments or smaller handles. If your bag has a really loud smell, like a leather smell, but it is overbearing, it is a replica. Shiny gold that tarnishes is also a sign.

When buying online and companies are advertising real designer bags for less, most of the time, unless they are used, they are replicas. If you go on official sites, they will let you know, that they do not discount and they can only be purchased from authorized dealers like department stores or the actual designer store. For instance, you cannot buy a Louis Vuitton bag new for less than $200 online, and if you go on the Louis Vuitton site, it will state their authorized dealers.

At Swap Couture, we use people who work for the actual designer, the internet, and we go into the stores ourselves and compare. This is done with every bag to insure that the bags that are sent in by you, are real!
